The South Coast Dance Festival, a new dance event will be launched later this month at Pavilion Dance South West in Bournemouth.

The two-day event will be held on Saturday July 31 and Sunday August 1 and will be the first of its kind for the South coast.

The festival is a series of dance classes and workshops by talented choreographers and dance teachers from across the UK.

Teachers at the event will be covering a multitude of dance styles, including hip-hop, commercial and house.

They have trained across the world and demonstrated their talents at many events, including performing for Bruno Mars, Little Mix and MTV music videos.

This event is organised by Deviation Dance Family, a local dance company established in 2019. The owner of the Company and organiser of the festival Ashley Knight has been training for over 23 years and teaching for 15 years across the UK.

Ashley says: “The aim of this festival is simple: to unite people together through dance. The South Coast Dance Festival is open to all. Whether you’re an experienced dancer in a team, or have never danced before, there is a space for you.

“Dance is such a huge event in the south and a lot of young people have suffered with a decline in their mental health due to the Corona Virus so I am putting on this event working with 8 top teachers from across the UK to help support their mental health.”

The event has capacity for 60 children and adults from Bournemouth, Southampton and Portsmouth.

Tickets for Saturday's classes have sold out but there are still spaces available on Sunday 1. To book email: deviationdancefamily@gmail.com
