THE heatwave is over but summer still has more to warm weather to offer, local forecasters have said.

This week has seen a mix of sunshine and showers but more settled weather is on the cards for next week with temperatures in the 20s.

Local forecaster DorsetSun said: “The next week or so is likely to be very dry with sunny spells amongst variable cloud cover, temperatures in the low 20s and humid nights.”

WessexWeather, who is based in Wimborne, said: "Unfortunately #Heatwave2018 is well and truly over now that the Atlantic jet stream is back in control."

DorsetSun added: “Towards the bank holiday models are currently in disagreement, however settled conditions are just about favoured with a chance of very warm, settled conditions returning.”

He said it was too early to tell what the weather might have in store for the Bournemouth Air Festival which takes place between August 30 and September 2.
