A MAN has been arrested after a woman was allegedly raped at a Christian festival.
The incident is said to have occurred at Focus Festival, a gathering of thousands of Christians organised by London’s Holy Trinity Brompton church, which this year took place at the Somerley Estate near Ringwood.
In a statement, Hampshire Constabulary said: “We were called at 5.06am on Wednesday, August 1, to a report of a 21 year-old woman being sexually assaulted at the Focus Festival which was being held at the Somerley Estate, north of Ringwood, at some point between 1.30am and 2am.
“The victim is receiving support from specialist officers.”
“A 54 year-old man who is not from Hampshire has been arrested on suspicion of rape.”
The force said the man had been released on conditional bail until August 29, while officers investigate further.
