A FIRE which took hold of Ferndown Common earlier this week has flared up once again.
As reported in the Daily Echo, around 100 firefighters tackled the heathland blaze when it broke out on Thursday night.
Fire crews have remained at the scene since. However, this afternoon the fire has flared up, and further help has been requested.
A spokesperson from the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Teams at the scene have requested further attendance.
"The call for extra help came in at around 1.25pm.
"The fire has flared up again. This appears to be because of a change in wind direction."
The police helicopter is also at the scene monitoring the spread of fire.

At the height of the blaze on Thursday, plumes of smoke could be seen for miles around.
The cause is not believed to be suspicious. Residents heard a loud roll of thunder before the fire broke out, leading some to speculate a lightning bolt may have caused the blaze.
