FIREFIGHTERS were called to Boscombe to deal with a bonfire that was starting to spread.
A crew from Springbourne was sent to a property in St Clement's Road at 10.38am.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire "started as a bonfire but was potentially spreading out of control".
"They caught it before it got out of hand," she added.
A large plume of smoke could be seen over the area.
Firefighters had the bonfire under control by 11pm. They used two hose reel jets to put out the fire.
