CHERRIES are one of two Premier League clubs to be linked with Brentford forward Ollie Watkins.

The Evening Standard reported the Bees “will demand £15million” for the 22-year-old, who they signed for a reported £1.8million from Exeter City 12 months ago.

Used both out wide and in a central role, Watkins netted 11 times last season having made 48 appearances in all competitions.

The Evening Standard claims the Torbay-born attacker has “started to attract attention from top-flight clubs, including Crystal Palace and Bournemouth”.

Meanwhile, The Sun understand the proposed fee for the youngster to be much less, claiming both Palace and Cherries are “in the race” to land the “£8million-rated star”.

The tabloid also claims “Cherries boss Eddie Howe is a big fan of Watkins”.

Having broken into the first team at Exeter, Watkins was named EFL Young Player of the Year for the 2016-17 campaign.

Other winners of the coveted prize include Gareth Bale, Nathaniel Clyne and Dele Alli.

Cherries have made one addition in the transfer window this summer, securing a £10million deal for David Brooks from Sheffield United.

Major departures include strikers Benik Afobe and Lewis Grabban, as well as winger Max Gradel.

Cherries have until Thursday, August 9, to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.
