TRAFFIC was queuing for miles along the A338 Wessex Way in Bournemouth on Monday night as a result of maintenance works.
The queues stretched northbound from Cooper Dean to the County Gates Roundabout.
There were also queues southbound.
One motorist described the situation as "horrendous" and "complete gridlock".
Mobile network operator EE was using a cherry picker to access the top of a telecoms pole for maintenance works off Cooper Dean Drive.
