TWO men have been jailed following a burglary which caused more than £1,500 of damage at a church in Lymington.
The incident, which took place at St Thomas’ Church at around 9.30pm on June 1, saw the culprits damage a stained-glass window, the alarm and church furniture.
They also stole cash from a donations box.
Stephen Tull, 35, and Mark Turner, 32, both of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal.
The pair were both sentenced to two years in prison at Bournemouth Crown Court.
PC Brad Manning, from Hampshire Constabulary's western investigations team, said: “When officers spoke to the vicar, he was very upset about the damage caused to the church.
“Over £1500 of damage was caused to a stained-glass window, the alarm and church furniture.
“In addition, a small amount of cash was stolen from the donations box and we are pleased to have brought the offenders to justice.”
