HUNDREDS of Wimborne schoolchildren entered this year's 'in Bloom' arts competition.
The youngsters painted pictures on the theme of 'Wimborne transport through the ages' for the contest, with entries received from children at Wimborne First, St John's CE First School, Allenbourn Middle School, Pamphill First School and Queen Elizabeth's School.
Judges including town mayor Councillor Kelly Webb agreed the entries were of an "exceptionally high standard".
Art from primary school students is on display in the library until July 16. Entries from middle and senior schools, as well as submissions from adults, will be exhibited in the Minster church until the same date.
The poetry competition for children attracted more than 50 entries, while the category for people over the age of 18 was also popular.
Prizes will be presented at the Wimborne in Bloom annual prizegiving, which will be held at Allenbourn Middle School on September 22 at 2.30 pm.
Richard Nunn, chairman of the 'in Bloom' committee, thanked all those who entered poems or paintings for supporting the competitions.
