HAVE you always wanted to drive Hengistbury Head’s famous land train?

Now’s your chance as people are being sought to drive the popular attraction affectionately known as the 'Noddy' train.

The train runs between Hengistbury Head main car park and Mudeford Spit.

Bournemouth council says drivers should be of a “cheerful disposition”, have excellent customer skills and be aged over 25.

A driving licence that includes towing trailers is essential.

The job is on a casual basis and includes weekend work.

The land train, which first began operations on April 1 1968, was owned by the Faris family.

In 2014, there was an outcry when Bournemouth council planned to terminate the contract and run its own service instead.

An online petition to allow the current operators to continue attracted more than 20,000 signatures.

However, Joyce Faris retired in 2015 and the council took up the service.

Earlier this year a free exhibition marking the train's 50th anniversary opened at Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre.

It runs until Sunday, August 5, 2018.
