A COMPLAINT against a Bournemouth councillor who accused a resident of "pure fabrication" has been dismissed.

Environmental campaigner Conor O'Luby alleged that Cllr Mike Greene had breached the council's code of conduct when he used the phrase while rebutting a claim by Mr O'Luby that the council had not fully informed the Government about its Wessex Fields A338 junction scheme.

The Local Government Ombudsman recently ordered the council to carry out a new investigation of the complaint after it found the initial probe had not been carried out correctly.

But when Mr O'Luby enquired about the status of this new investigation at a full council meeting this month, Cllr Beverley Dunlop, chairman of the standards committee, said it had already been carried out with the same conclusion reached.

"My decision at that time was that there was no breach of the code and therefore no further action to be taken," she said.

"I reviewed the same documents provided by Mr O'Luby to support his original complaint and my decision was unchanged."

However, she also apologised to Mr O'Luby and another member of the public for "excessive delay" in processing the complaints, which she said resulted from the death of a family member.
