THE new Broadstone neighbourhood plan, which received the overwhelming backing of residents earlier this month, is set to be formally adopted by Poole council next week.
At next week’s full council meeting, councillors are being recommended to make the document a part of the statutory development plan for Poole.
In a referendum on June 7, 95 per cent of Broadstone residents voted for the neighbourhood plan, which helps to guide development, to be brought into the council’s policy.
Work to develop the plan started in February 2013 when Broadstone Neighbourhood Forum was designated as a ‘qualifying body’.
Since then, the group has been developing the document which was approved by Poole council in April – allowing a referendum to be held.
Now that it has the backing of residents, the plan is set to be adopted by the council as part of its decision-making policy.
