BOURNEMOUTH'S famous land train route has been extended into Poole.

The route, originally from Bournemouth Pier to Vesuvio Italian Restaurant, now goes from the Pier to Branksome Chine, taking in Alum, Durley and Middle Chine.

In the other direction, the train runs from Bournemouth to Boscombe Pier, the Beach Lodges and onto Boscombe Chine Gardens and Boscombe High Street.

Tom Harris, Senior Seafront Ranger, said: "The land trains have been part of Bournemouth’s seafront for many decades and are a much-loved asset to our famous promenade – it’s great to offer this new route into Branksome Chine so passengers can take in even more of our beautiful beaches, we look forward to welcoming everyone on board!"

The land train service to Branksome Chine is already underway with the brightly coloured fleet made up of five trains including Flotsam and Jetsam, who joined last year.

Trains run daily during April to October, during school holidays and at the weekends during Winter, subject to weather conditions.
