THE "relentless determination" of staff at a Bournemouth primary school to ensure their pupils succeed has been praised by government inspectors.

King's Park Academy in Bournemouth was rated as Good and its Outstanding features highlighted following a visit from Ofsted.

The Ashley Road school, which has 685 pupils, received high praise for pupils' progress and behaviour with inspectors highlighting that children are happy in school and take pride in their work.

They added: "Pupils in all groups, including the disadvantaged and those who speak English as an additional language, increasingly make progress in line with or above the national average."

They described behaviour as "outstanding" and described the school as a "calm and very well-ordered school."

In a report to Principal Lauren Dean, they said leaders at the school have high ambitions which "result in a high quality of education and good outcomes for all pupils."

Kings Park Academy is a bigger than average primary school and is run by the successful Ambitions Academies Trust.

Pupils are aged between three and 11-years-old with the proportion eligible for free school meals above the national average and double the national average of pupils who speak English as an additional language.

Inspectors said the school could improve further if it continued to raise standards in reading so that they match the standards achieved in writing.

Leaders were also told to further develop deeper thinking and reasoning skills in maths.

Lauren Dean said: "I am extremely proud to be leading King’s Park Academy. The Ofsted report is a testament to all of the hard work that every member of staff does day in and out to ensure that the children of Boscombe achieve the outstanding education that they deserve.

"I am very excited for the future of KPA and I would personally like to thank all of the parents/carers for their continued support."

Trust CEO Sian Thomas said: "Everyone associated with KPA - staff, pupils and parents - have all been on a journey to ensure there is an outstanding level of education provided.

"This report reflects the hard work of everybody. It is truly a most wonderful report, one that we are all proud of. A massive well done to everyone involved."

Director of Primary and Early Years, Alex Prout, added: "I am phenomenally proud of all the staff and children at KPA – they have worked relentlessly to improve the academy so that we can offer an excellent education for the Boscombe community."
