POLICE blocked off a stretch of the M27 on Sunday after two horses ran across the motorway.
Officers with Hampshire police created a rolling road block in a bid to shepherd the horses during the incident, which happened during the afternoon. The animals are believed to have come from the New Forest.
Delays built near Ower and Cadnam. It is not clear how the horses managed to escape onto the motorway.
A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: "The horses walked along the M27 and up the A36.
"Closures were put in place so police could work with the Highways Agency and the Verderers of the New Forest to get the horses off the road and secured."
