THREE new parish councils could be created in Christchurch borough under plans drawn up by the council.
Last year, Christchurch council started work on a review of the borough’s parish council arrangements and has now drawn up a series of recommendations for changes.
Among them is a suggestion for three parish council’s to be set up; Highcliffe and Walkford parish; Mudeford, Friars Cliff and Stanpit parish; and Christchurch town and that Burton Parish Council is renamed to Burton and Winkton Parish Council.
A second option which would instead see just one new authority – Christchurch Town Council – formed has also been put forward for consideration.
If any changes are made, they would be implemented on April 1, 2019.
Views are being sought on the proposed changes and a consultation began on Friday (May 25) and will run through until Friday, July 20.
