RYAN Webb’s leap into British high jumping’s top 10 stole the show in the Dorset Championship at King’s Park.

Webb cleared 2.20m for the first time as he added county gold to the bronze he won in the British Universities’ Championship.

Advice from Fuzz Caan, who also coaches London 2012 bronze medallist Robbie Grabarz, appears to be paying dividends for the Wimborne athlete.

Danielle Broom claimed championship bests in the junior women’s hammer (54.96m) and discus (43.35m), while Bethan Burley added another with an 11.19m shot put.

Anya Kay clocked 14.7s to equal the meeting best for 100m hurdles.

Bournemouth AC long jumpers James Lelliott (7.65m) and Patrick Sylla (7.48m) also impressed, while Eva Bestmaijer claimed the women’s title with 5.92m.

Lelliott also threw 54.84m to edge javelin gold from Poole AC’s Andrew Elkins (53.93m) and BAC club-mate Andrew Brown (50.45m).

Daniel Brunsden (15.19m, 44.17m) and Melissa Bird (11.57m, 40.20m) each posted senior shot and discus doubles. Elkins (55.12m) and Megan Tuck of Dorchester (40.75m) won the senior hammer titles.

Robinson Okumu achieved an under-20 sprint double (10.9s, 22.5s) while Cameron Hale won the shot and javelin (13.70m, 50.97m).

Adam Booth (13.8s) and Yasmin Bridet (11.9s) gained under-17 sprint hurdles golds, while Abbie Lovering (45.1s) and Olivia Willmore (45.4s) spurred each other to personal bests in the 300m hurdles.

Josh Smith won the under-15 boys’ 800m with 2:07.6. Wimborne duo Akiva Bassford (5.70m) and Ben Butcher (11.42m) gained long jump and triple jump titles, respectively.

BAC’s Amelia Verney doubled the under-15 girls’ sprints (12.3s, 25.9s). Emily Shaw’s 4:47.5 secured 1500m victory. Lauren Hill won the long jump with 4.93m and Charlotte Piper’s 28.92m took javelin gold.

Tristan Green (800m, 2:19.3) and William Rabjohns (1500m, 4:42.7) achieved under-13 meeting bests, while Louis Bourke won the 100m in 12.8s and recorded 4.83m in the long jump.

Poole AC under-13 Jaya Collinson won both sprints (13.8s, 28.7s) and the long jump (4.26m), while Wimborne’s Iris Courtney won the 1500m in 5:15.3.
