A HEARING has taken place at Bournemouth Coroner's Court in connection with the death of a man who died after being restrained by police.
Company director Douglas Oak died in Poole Hospital on April 12, 2017, a day after coming into contact with police officers at the junction of The Avenue and Dalkeith Road in Poole.
On Friday, Dorset Coroner Racheal Griffin presided over a pre-inquest review into the case.
At an earlier hearing the court was told police were called after Mr Oak was seen trying to get into a vehicle which did not belong to him.
He became unresponsive at the scene and was taken to Poole Hospital where his condition deteriorated. He died the following day.
An investigation into his death was also launched by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
Because of the complexity of the case, another pre-inquest review is scheduled for September 11.
The date of the full inquest remains unknown.
