EAST Dorset District Council member Boyd Mortimer has passed away.
The Verwood East ward councillor, who has represented the town since 2003, died on Saturday, April 21.
In recent years Cllr Mortimer served on both the district council's planning and scrutinty committees.
Cllr Derek Burt, chairman of East Dorset District Council, shared the news of Cllr Mortimer's passing at Monday evening's full council meeting.
“It is with great sadness that we received the news of the death of councillor Boyd Mortimer on Saturday 21 April," Cllr Burt said.
"Our thoughts go out to his family at this very tragic time.
“Boyd, who has represented Verwood since 2003, will be sorely missed by fellow councillors at East Dorset District Council and staff.”
