GREEN-fingered residents are being invited to enter the 2018 Bournemouth in Bloom competition.

Gardens big, small and communal are eligible to enter with categories also for hanging baskets, window boxes, patios and even private gardens at mobile homes.

Commercial premises can also enter including hotels, nursing homes, language schools, cafes, pubs, places of worship, libraries and shopping centres.

These are also prizes for environmentally friendly spaces and accessible sensory gardens that stimulate sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste and wellbeing.

New for this year, there are three special categories for trees including Champion Trees, which will celebrate trees of notable size or age, plus Best Small Ornamental and Flowering Tree.

For an entry form, send a stamped addressed envelope to Beryl Parker, secretary of Bournemouth in Bloom, 101 Craigmoor Avenue, Bournemouth, BH8 9LT. Forms can also be downloaded from the Bournemouth in Bloom website at http://bournemouthinbloom.co.uk/

Entry closes on June 16, and the prize-giving ceremony will take place at the Hallmark Hotel Bournemouth Carlton on October 17.
