A SCHOOLGIRL has donated £2,500 to five charities in memory of her late mother.
Milly Godfrey, 14, raised the money through sponsorship after taking part in a dip in the sea in December at Branksome Dene Chine along with a charity fun day.
Milly, who lives in Alderholt and attends Queen Elizabeth’s School in Wimborne, was joined in the sea by some family and friends and was supported by a cheering crowd on the beach.
Sure Start in West Howe, Fernheath Playcentre, Wessex Heartbeat, Autism Wessex and Poole NICU baby unit each received £500.
The charities were close to both Milly and her mum Emmeline, known to friends and family as Emm, who passed away suddenly in August 2017 after suffering a heart attack. She had an undiagnosed heart disease.
Sara Fripp, from Poole Hospital, said “Milly did an amazing job to raise such a huge amount of money for some fabulous charities.”
Milly's father, Neil Godfrey, said: “We are all very proud of our wonderful Milly who through the pain of losing her mother has made a positive impact to the lives of others, which is so typically her”.
