RESIDENTS are being asked to have their say on a £160,000 project to renovate Poole's Harbourside Park.
Harbourside Park, made up from Whitecliff and Baiter recreation grounds, is in-line for a makeover, which is being funded by Borough of Poole (BOP) through developer contributions.
A series of meetings, when BOP representatives will be on hand to speak to residents, are scheduled to take place from the end of April.
Writing on the Parkstone Bay Association website, association chairman Mike Randall says eleven elements are being suggested for Whitecliff and Baiter Park.
These include repair work to the sluice channel from Poole Park into Poole Harbour, path widening at the harbour's edge, introducing new fencing, new play and fitness equipment, improving drainage at Baiter and planting new wildflowers and trees.
Mr Randall added: "These are just some of the ideas but Poole council would also like your ideas too. In order to gain your thoughts, you are invited to a series of meetings that will take place."
Council officials are also considering developing and remodelling the Whitecliff Recreation Ground Pavillion and Baiter toilets.
A BOP spokesman said: "Harbourside Park is one of Poole's most treasured open spaces and a fabulous place for everything from play to relaxation.
"Loved for its proximity to Parkstone Bay, Poole Park and Poole town centre, with beautiful views of the Purbeck hills it is a place everyone can enjoy.
"At the request of the local community, local ward members and park users the Borough of Poole is planning to invest in a range of improvements in order to preserve this special site, benefit wildlife and add to people's enjoyment of the area.
"Over the next couple of months we will be asking for your thoughts and wishes for Harbourside Park - an online questionnaire will soon be available for all to fill in, and we will be holding consultation events across the park.
"Come and let us know what you think."
The open meetings are set to take place at the following times and places:
-
April 28, from 10am-1pm, near Baiter slipway.
-
May 9, from 8-11am, near entrance to park from quay.
-
May 17, from 4-8pm, near Turks Lane.
-
May 29, 1-6pm, near Whitecliff Play Area.
