A ROAD in Christchurch was closed after a two-vehicle crash.

River Way was closed at the junction with Stour Way after a collision this morning. Emergency services were called to the incident, which involved a silver Renault Clio and a blue Honda Jazz.

Firefighters helped a casualty from one of the vehicles for the ambulance service.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 11.01am to report of a two vehicle RTC at River Way and Stour Way.

"Officers have attended along with the ambulance service. The fire service also attended.

"We are currently at the scene."

Fire crews from Christchurch and Redhill attended the incident, which a spokesperson confirmed was between two private motor vehicles.

The door of one vehicle was removed and hydraulic cutting equipment was used to get one casualty out of one of the vehicles.

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service said they treated two patients, both for minor injuries.

An ambulance and a rapid response vehicle attended and both patients were taken to Poole Hospital.

The road was reopened around 1.30pm after local authority staff cleared debris from the road.
