A HOMELESS man who launched into a violent outburst at Bournemouth's busy McDonald's restaurant has been sentenced to eight weeks behind bars.

Keith James Treviss, of no fixed abode, admitted using threatening words and behaviour, and damaging a set of doors, during the afternoon incident at the fast food outlet in Old Christchurch Road.

He also pleaded guilty to assaulting a police constable while being booked into the custody suite at Bournemouth police station later that day.

On Tuesday (Feb 13) Poole Magistrates’ Court heard that Treviss, aged 51, became upset with staff at the till who wouldn’t change a £10 note for him.

The court was told staff refused to change the banknote because a number of fake £10s were circulating at the time.

However, Treviss believed counter staff were discriminating against him as he was one of their regular homeless patrons.

Magistrates were told Treviss started to swear and shout, yelling at diner staff: “I want to punch you all.”

After initially leaving the restaurant, which was busy with customers, including young families, Treviss continued shouting outside - at one point he even started shadow boxing in front of the restaurant's main entrance.

Then he walked back into McDonalds, the court was told, before picking up a chair and waving it around his head in a threatening manner.

At this point a member of the public intervened and police were called.

The front doors of the restaurant were damaged by Treviss kicking them as he left the premises.

Later at Bournemouth police station - following his arrest - he became violent and had to be restrained.

After attempting to first punch the constable, he kicked the officer in leg, the court heard.

Magistrates also heard the incident at McDonalds took place at 4.20pm, February 11, 2018.

He was sentenced to eight weeks in prison and ordered to pay £25 compensation to the constable.
