AFC Bournemouth are marking World Cancer Day today by highlighting the work of Dorset Cancer Care Foundation.

Cherries, who take on Stoke City at home today, have invited local families affected by cancer to watch the game.

Club chairman Jeff Mostyn, who is a patron of the charity, will also meet volunteers on the pitch at half time.

DCCF was founded in 2012 and gives financial assistance to Dorset families coping with cancer, funding everything from transport costs to and from hospital to household bills and respite breaks.

The charity is being supported by AFC Bournemouth throughout 2017/2018.

AFC Bournemouth captain, Simon Francis, said: “As a club, we are proud to support World Cancer Day and Dorset Cancer Care Foundation.

“Cancer is an illness that affects too many lives but there are charities out there, like Dorset Cancer Care Foundation, who work tirelessly to help those affected and their families.

“Helping raise awareness of their good work in the region is the least we can do and it is great that their efforts are being recognised at this weekend’s game.”
