LIFEBOAT crews were called out as a vessel began to take on water south of Brownsea Island on Sunday night.
Volunteers received a mayday call from a 40-foot cabin cruiser in Blood Alley at around 9.30pm.
The cruiser's crew of two had been aground and at anchor. However, when the tide came back in, their vessel began to take on water.
A spokesperson for the RNLI said conditions in the harbour were "extremely cold and very dark".
"As the lifeboat volunteers made their way through the darkness, the vessel came upright in the rising tide and stopped taking on water," she said.
"As all was okay and the vessel was back afloat and not taking on any more water, the mayday was cancelled and the lifeboat returned back to station."
