THIS month, local fundraiser Lorraine Stone is gearing up for her next challenge to help raise money for Mind, a specialist charity which helps people with mental health problems.

Since losing her brother to suicide in 2011, Lorraine, 34, from Oakdake, has worked tirelessly to raise money for charity. This January she is asking people to sponsor her for Mind's Run Every Day in January challenge, as she found great comfort in their support after Stuart's passing.

R.E.D January is a charity challenge helping to shine a light on mental health issues, all in association with the charity Mind.

Friends and family members will be supporting her along the way, all picking a day of the month to run alongside her. To make things more entertaining she will also be doing a version of James Cordon's Carpool karaoke - RunPoole Karaoke. Each running partner has been asked to sing with her as they run and a video of this will be uploaded to social media to promote awareness of the challenge and hopefully raise more sponsorship. Lorraine is already nearly at her initial target of £500.

Back in 2012, Lorraine climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in honour of her brother to raise money for his favourite charities, RNLI and Waggy Tails, raining an impressive sum of £1,500, and is hoping to raise a similar amount for Mind this year.

Lorraine said: "My mental health suffered whilst grieving the loss of my only brother and I have seen first-hand the positive effects of being active. I felt raising money for Mind - the Mental Health Charity by taking part in R.E.D January seemed like a perfect way to start the new year and raise awareness of what the charity do. I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of my sponsors so far and would like to thank them for their support."
