Dorset and the New Forest have escaped snowfall yet again - but the Met Office is warning of ice later this afternoon.

The yellow warning is in place between 4pm today and 11am tomorrow.

Icy patches are expected to develop on Wednesday night and Thursday morning on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, as well as where showers continue to fall.

Heavy rain has also led to flood alerts being issued.

Strong winds and rain overnight and into this morning have battered parts of the county.

Arrowsmith Road in Broadstone is closed due to a fallen tree outside the Magna Care Centre. The tree brought down power lines, and 60 homes in the area are currently without power.

Bournemouth Echo:

Shortly before 1.30pm, a spokesperson from SSE said engineers and a specialist tree-cutting team are due at the site "imminently" to begin work.

And while the rain may have turned to snow elsewhere, only Shaftesbury and other parts of north Dorset have seen any of the white stuff.

Sleet fell across the eastern part of the county earlier this morning and could be seen again this morning.

The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts for the lower Avon and tributaries between Ringwood and Christchurch after "intense rainfall over the New Forest."

One was also issued for the upper and middle Stour and tributaries as water levels from Sturminster Newton to Wimborne were expected to rise.

The temperature is expected to feel colder today, around 0C, with gusts of wind around 30mph.

It will brighten up later this morning into this afternoon, with tomorrow expected to be bright and sunny as well.

The wind will drop tomorrow and temperatures will be around 5C.
