PLANS for a new orthodontist dental surgery have been submitted to Poole council.

The proposals would see a bungalow in Lower Blandford Road in Broadstone converted into a practice.

If given approval by planning chiefs, the dental surgery would become the second to open in the area, with Ridgeway Dental Practice also situated in Lower Blandford Road.

The application has been put forward by Bournemouth-based planning consultants Pure Town Planning.

A design and access statement accompanying the plans states the proposed practice will employ a total of five members of staff, including two dentists. It is envisaged that each dentist will see between 30 and 40 patients per day, but only two patients will be seen at any one time.

The practice would be open from 8.30am to 5.30pm.

The current bungalow consists of two bedrooms, as well as a conservatory and garage, which would be demolished.

The proposed orthodontist dental surgery would feature a reception area with a large waiting room, in addition to two treatment rooms, a staff room, kitchen area, and toilets.

Developers are not planning to change the layout of the bungalow or make any external alterations to the building.

Pure Town Planning states in its application that a total of seven parking spaces would be provided for the surgery – one more than the six that would typically be required as per the council’s parking guidelines.

“The proposed development will locate a community-based facility in a highly sustainable location with excellent links to public transport and walking and cycle routes,” a spokesperson for Pure Town Planning said.

“The proposal will secure on site car parking, however will utilise existing on street car parking during times throughout the day and will avoid the busiest demand period for parking associated with residential properties.”
