A HAIR salon owner had around £5,000 stolen from his car while taking his dogs for a walk in Meyrick Park.

Daren Antell, who owns a salon in Moordown, noticed a “figure” standing next to his car and shouted out, according to a Dorset Police spokesperson.

However, he was unable to identify the person and, when he returned to his car, he found the window had been smashed and a bag containing a week’s worth of takings, including cash and cheques, had been stolen, along with his work diary.

The incident happened at around 4.30pm on Saturday.

The Dorset Police spokesperson confirmed there was no CCTV footage of the incident or any witnesses at this stage.

The local Neighbourhood Policing Team has been made aware and patrols are being carried out in the area.

People are being reminded to be vigilant and to never leave any cash or valuables in their car.
