NINE deserving charitable organisations have received donations from a foundation set up in memory of a popular schoolboy.

Canford School student Louis Ross was just 17-years-old when he died in a skiing accident in Meribel in France.

Following the tragedy, his family and friends set up the Louis Ross Foundation.

His parents Penny and John, along with close family friends, have organised numerous events and have considered applications for help.

"Louis's Foundation is so personal to us, therefore the donations made must involve a personal touch," said Penny.

"Our supporters deserve to know that funds are wisely 'spent' to make a real difference to those in need. It has been heartwarming to see the difference the funds can make."

She said the foundation has been told that a donation to the Sleepsafe project helped it to get 47 people off the streets during last winter.

And a visit to Beaucroft Foundation School showed that equipment funded by the foundation was popular with the special school pupils.

More money was raised at a mini festival at Sturminster Marshall golf club but the total is not yet known. A quiz night will also be held at Tarrant Keyneston village hall on November 17.
