BABS Plumbridge (nee Davis) said the picture of the Gondolier 4 printed on September 18 was taken at the Haven ferry point at the entrance to Poole Harbour. Shell Bay and the chain ferry can be seen in the distance.
She thinks the date is prior to 1946/47 when the Davis family bought Gondolier 4 and renamed the boat the Dorset Queen. Her father Gilbert Davis was the skipper.
Peter Sykes of Swanage said during the 1930s Gondolier Pleasure Cruises offices were in the former Poole Subscriptions Library on Poole High Street, where the current entrance to Poole Museum is today.
