AROUND 2,500 barbershop singers are set to descend on Bournemouth next month for a major competition.
The third European Barbershop Convention will see groups from across the continent compete in a bid to be crowned 2017 European barbershop champions.
The event, which is being hosted by the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers (LABBS), takes place at the BIC between October 26 and 29. It is the biggest barbershop event outside North America.
A World Harmony Showcase will take place on the Friday followed by a performance from all the gold medal winners from the competition on Saturday along with the combined QC chorus which features quartet champions from the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers and the British Association of Barbershop Singers.
A spokesperson from the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers said: “The people of Bournemouth can expect groups of colourfully clad men and women, young and old, breaking into song at every opportunity.”
As well as the competitions, there’s a full programme of educational events taking place led by world class coaches and performers.
Spectators are welcome and tickets for the concerts can be purchased from the BIC reception.
