SPECIAL guest Harry Redknapp was on hand to officially open an ice cream cafe in Bournemouth town centre on Thursday (21.9).

The new branch of Creams, which specialises in a variety of ice creams, waffles and crepes, has undergone more than half a million pounds worth of investment and is supporting local charity Julia's House and Victoria School.

Due to high demand, the opening was actually staggered over two days with Bournemouth mayor Lawrence Williams cutting the ribbon at Wednesday (20.9) evening's event, before the former AFC Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur manager did the honours the following day.

"When I heard they were involved with Julia's House and Victoria School I was happy to come down because they are both such incredible groups," Mr Redknapp said.

"It looks amazing here with all these ice creams you just want to try one. They all look so good.

"I like my ice cream and I'll pop in here when I'm going by for sure."

The cafe includes a children's soft play area and party room for family events.

Shiar Kalsh, director of Creams cafe in Albert Road, said: "We've created a family friendly environment.

"We've created 30 jobs for people aged 16 to 26 and we're working alongside the council's vision by bringing something different into the town centre for families.

"We are very supportive of Julia's House, Victoria School and other organisations we are getting in touch with.

"We're hoping this is going to be a successful business and a happy place for families to come and visit."
