TRAVELLERS who set up an encampment at Poole Park have now left the site.

Around eight caravans arrived at the park on Monday, August 7, and were parked near to the War Memorial and tennis courts.

A Borough of Poole spokesperson confirmed that the travellers left the site on Thursday after formal notice was served asking them to leave the site.

The spokesman added: "They left a small amount of refuse behind in black bags, which was cleansed this morning by street scene crews.

"They did not indicate where they were headed, but have not re-established themselves in Poole."

There are still travellers at Baiter Park and Kingland Road car park.

At Baiter there are four caravans. Eviction notices were served by the council last week and bailiffs have been put on standby for today if they have not left.

There are four campervans and one caravan at Kingland Road car park.
