A DEVELOPER is planning to knock down a "traditional" town centre home and build a block of 23 flats.
The proposal, submitted to Bournemouth council, would see the two-storey house at Addiscombe, 8 Cranborne Road - currently home to six flats - demolished and a new block take its place.
The present building is adjacent to two similar homes, but also lies between the Terrace Mount Hilton and Hamptons hotel development and the planned Winter Gardens development, which will include relatively high rise buildings.
Cape Developments plans to build a six-storey building. All the flats within would be two-bedroom.
Its application states: "In recent years there has been substantial redevelopment in the immediate context of the application site and in the wider locality which has introduced a
number of more contemporary developments providing numerous mixed uses."
A previous application to build a block of 31 flats was refused by the borough planning authority in August last year, and again subsequently on appeal, on the grounds that it was took large and would see the removal of too many trees.
