A MUSIC festival supporting veterans will be held in Springbourne this weekend.

In total 16 bands, including The Decatonics, Ratrace, Sunstroke and the Crash Landings, will be performing in the two day event at the Queen's Park Hotel in Holdenhurst Road, at the corner with Ashley Road.

All proceeds will go to the charities Help 4 Homeless Veterans and Southampton Doing It For The Kids.

Organiser David Wood, from Help 4 Homeless Veterans, was recently named Volunteer of the Year in the Daily Echo Local Hero Awards.

"The idea is to bring as many people together as possible," he said. "It will be absolutely bouncing, the whole event is outside from 1pm until 8pm on both days, when we move inside for the bands at the finale.

"The CEO of Southampton Doing It For The Kids was a great help in getting the bands together and they are doing amazing things to support disabled children."

The event takes place on July 29 and 30. Tickets are £25 for the whole two days or £15 a day. Call David on 07841374320 or visit www.bit.ly/2nNMzV6
