THE countdown is on to the hugely popular New Forest Show set to take place later this month.

Tens of thousands of people flock to the event every year and 2017 will be no exception with a huge variety of entertainment lined up for all the family.

Along with the scores of food stalls, craft stalls and animals, a selection of special events will take place over the three-day show, which will run from Tuesday July 25 to Thursday July 27.

Arena events will include the Jamie Squibb Freestyle Motocross Display and this year will also see cattle milking demonstrations, a bake and cake event, fun kitchen workshops, a local produce market and a family fun area.

Stewarts Garden Centres have been working hard on their New Forest meadow, this year with a fairy garden theme, and the show will also celebrate 100 years of Ford tractors and feature a heavy horse musical drive.

The annual event takes place at New Park in Brockenhurst and attracts people from far and wide.

Every year there are spectacular floral displays and the popular vegetable competitions.

A huge range of animals will be on the site, competing in a number of categories. Top-notch show jumping will be featured and visitors will get the chance to buy unusual items from a variety of craft stalls.

And there will be no need to go hungry as the show features a food hall with 40 different stalls, beer tents and a picnic area.

Tickets are available in advance and those who buy them before the show will be eligible for free transport from Brockenhurst station.

This year's New Forest Show nominated charity is the Piam Brown Ward at Southampton Hospital, a dedicated unit for young people aged 16 and under who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Tickets cost from £17.85 for adults, £6.30 for children and £42 for a family if purchased in advance.
