Sunday may have seen spells of warm sunshine but this week things will feel more like spring than summer.
Monday will be the best day of the week with highs of 19C and sunny intervals in the afternoon, giving way to more prolonged periods of sunshine in the evening.
Tuesday will be cloudy with the chance of light rain while Wednesday will see sunshine and the chance of rain in the morning with highs of 17C.
Thursday will be brighter with light cloud but the chance of rain in the afternoon.
Friday will be mostly dry with sunshine and just the chance of light rain in the afternoon.
Looking ahead, the Met Office says: "Friday is likely to become breezy and showery across the country. Saturday could well be drier for a time before further rain moves in during the evening or overnight.
"Sunday and the following week will stay changeable with showers or longer spells of rain. There will also be some drier and brighter spells, which will be most likely in the south and east.
"In the northwest, showers are likely to be heavier, perhaps bringing a risk of thunder at times. It will sometimes be windy, especially in the north and west where there will be a risk of local gales at times.
"Temperatures are expected to stay near the seasonal average throughout, or be rather cool."
