PART of the A35 was closed after a car ended up in a ditch off the Upton Bypass.
The collision took place on the westbound carriageway around 7.50pm on Wednesday.
Police, paramedics and fire crews were called to the scene.
The car ended up off the carriageway, on part of the embankment.
The A35 Upton Bypass was closed at the Upton turnoff, say police.
A spokesperson for South West Ambulance Service said they received a call at 7.45pm and attended with two rapid response vehicles and one ambulance.
Both casualties were taken to Poole Hospital for treatment
A Dorset Police spokesman said the incident involved a black Mini Cooper, registered to a woman from Christchurch.
Just before 10pm a spokesman from Dorset Police said the vehicle was being recovered.
