ARMED police raided a house in Bournemouth on Tuesday afternoon.

Police with guns and riot gear were spotted by neighbours storming the end of terrace house in Verney Close at around 3pm. A ram was used to break down the door.

By 4.30pm there was a cordon around the scene with an armed police 4x4 vehicle and two other police vehicles parked in the road outside.

It is also believed that a recovery vehicle attended and picked up a small green car in a neighbouring road.

Dorset Police declined to provide any details on the raid, citing “operational reasons”.

Police confirmed on Wednesday morning they had been searching for evidence in relation to the investigation into the murder of Guy Hedger.

Police extended the cordon on Wednesday.

A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said it was the latest of several police operations in the road over a period of several years.

“There were lots of police there at about 3pm,” the neighbour said.

“They gave them plenty of opportunity to open the door before they smashed it down.

“They weren’t in there anyway.”
