AN 84-YEAR-OLD woman who suffered serious injuries in a head-on collision at a notorious accident blackspot has died of her injuries after a month-long fight for life.
Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the horror crash following the death of the woman, who was critically injured in the Badbury Rings crash on Sunday March 12.
She was a rear passenger in a silver Toyota Corolla which collided with a blue Ford Focus on the B3082 at the junction leading to Sturminster Marshall at 10.30am.
The Toyota was travelling from Wimborne to Blandford at the time of the crash. The 85-year-old male driver of the Toyota and a 64-year-old female passenger both suffered slight injuries.
Police said the woman, who was treated at Southampton Hospital, died yesterday afternoon. Her next of kin have been informed and the coroner has been notified.
The three occupants of the Ford Focus, a 75-year-old male driver, a 72-year-old woman and an 89-year-old man, are all from the Blandford area and were taken to Poole hospital with slight injuries following the accident.
Police Constable Angus Wilson, of the Dorset Police traffic unit, said: "I am still appealing to anyone who has any information about the collision which may help me with my investigation and has yet to speak to officers to please contact Dorset Police."
