ON Wednesday April 5, I read in the Echo the story about the little Cherries fan with cerebral palsy, who is in desperate need of an operation which will improve his ability to walk.
Little Jacob Buckett, four, from Canford Heath, needs the operation to restore the function in his legs. His parents have been told that without the operation, Jacob would probably be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
The operation combined with the intensive physiotherapy is estimated to cost around £36,000.
Unbelievably this operation is not available on the NHS. When one looks at some of the outlandish procedures the NHS funds I find it unbelievable that an operation to prevent this little boy spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair is not funded by the NHS.
