A CHARITY supporting young people facing homelessness in Dorset generates more than £5 in social value for every £1 they invest.

Step by Step, an award-winning charity helping 16 to 25-year-olds across the south of England, teamed up with Dorset County Council last year to expand their reach to include North Dorset, Weymouth and Portland.

A recent study, conducted independently by the NHS, to quantify the social outcomes of the charity revealed that for every £1 invested the charity create £5.60 in social value for the surrounding community.

Chief executive Amanda Dubarry said: "We have created a very successful approach that combines both a range of accommodation services and wrap around support services to achieve great outcomes for the young people we support.

"We are understandably proud of the positive outcomes that over 10,000 young people have achieved with our help to date. We also believe that we create additional benefits for society in general and contribute to the economic wellbeing of the nation."
