PROPOSALS have been lodged with Borough of Poole planning bosses to refurbish the McDonald's restaurant in Branksome.

Franchise owner, former City broker Matthew Street, also wants to introduce table service, alongside revamping the existing drive through lane and introducing new self-order kiosks.

When Mr Street took over the franchise, last year, he pledged to invest an additional £200,000 into the business.

He also promised a new focus on community engagement, with staff going on litter-picks at least three times a day.

On the latest proposals, Mr Street said: "I'm excited about the plan to bring these changes to the Alder Road restaurant.

"This will bring an investment into the Poole community of nearly £2 million which will have created an additional 100 jobs over the last 18 months, with the workforce now totalling 205 people.

"Last year I also took ownership of the Mannings Heath restaurant and am dedicated to investing in Poole and the people that live and work here."

This investment in the Alder Road McDonald's comes two months after the Echo reported that McDonald's in Poole High Street had closed its doors for good after operating at the town centre site for some 34 years.
