A man has been charged with assault after a fight broke out at a Westbourne bar.

Police were called to reports of a "large fight" at the Dancing Duck in Poole Road shortly after 9pm on Saturday.

It is alleged that a fight broke out and a woman was injured, she was said to have suffered a bloody nose.

A man was also taken to hospital. 

Witnesses say five marked cars were seen outside the venue at around 9.30pm.

A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "Officers were called at 9.07pm to reports of a large fight.

"There were reports of injuries.

"Two arrests were made and enquiries are ongoing.

"A number of units attended."

A spokesperson from South Western Ambulance Service said: "Paramedics were called to the Dancing Duck at 9.10pm.

"One person was treated at the scene. A second was treated before being taken to Poole Hospital."

Jamie Fox, general manager of the Dancing Duck, said: "It's the only serious incident we've had here that I'm aware of.

"Sometimes there'll be occasional disagreements that will be dealt with by the doormen, but this is the first major incident we've had."

A 53-year-old Bournemouth man has been charged with assault and using threatening behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence and is due to appear before Poole Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 28.

A 58-year-old Ringwood man, arrested on suspicion of affray and acting drunk and disorderly in a public place and a 50-year-old man from Nottingham, arrested on suspicion of assault and affray have been released from custody.

They have both received a caution for using threatening behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence.
