AWARD-WINNING reggae artist Sean Paul and DJ legend Pete Tong, will be topping the bill at this year’s Common People festival, it has been revealed.

The two day event, produced by the creators of Bestival, takes place on Southampton Common over the Bank Holiday weekend from May 27-28.

Curator Rob da Bank says: “Common People is all about having some proper moments together as friends and family.

“Our cast this year to make you dance, sing and generally lose your shizzle, include none other than recent Number One album artist, Mr Pete Tong, a legend of the dance and Radio 1 for over quarter of a century now, and here with a rare outdoor performance of his orchestral wonder Ibiza Dance Classics.

“Also, stepping up is Sean Paul, a dancehall god with more bangers up his sleeve than a fireworks factory.

“And proving able support will Tom Odell and Groove Armada and loads more.”

Festival-goers will have the chance to see Pete Tong’s Ibiza classics performed outdoors by The Heritage Orchestra with conductor Jules Buckley on the Saturday night.

Support includes BRIT’s Critics’ Choice winner 2013, Tom Odell and rave legends Faithless. There will also be appearances from a variety of other artists such as Loyle Carner, Becky Hill, Seán McGowan, Kassassin Street and the Black Kat Boppers.

Bringing the festival to a triumphant close on Sunday, will be Sean Paul, fresh from ruling the charts with his Clean Bandit collaboration and his highly acclaimed headline set at last year’s Bestival.
