Sewing machines, cardboard boxes and face paints at the ready, World Book Day is almost here.

Pupils across Dorset will once again be getting dressed up as their favourite literary heroes for the event on Thursday, March 2.

Last year we were inundated with fantastic images and this year we hope to include your efforts in a picture gallery on the big day, Thursday March 2.
We will also put as many as we can in the Daily Echo newspaper on Saturday March 4.

To inspire you, here are six of our favourite costumes from last year's World Book Day.

Bournemouth Echo:

Isle Martin as Stickman

Bournemouth Echo:

Grace as the Snow Queen from the Chronicles of Narnia

Bournemouth Echo:

Tyler Burden as the BFG

Bournemouth Echo:

Ollie Parram as Oliver Twist

Bournemouth Echo:

Alfie Newnham as Billionaire Boy

Bournemouth Echo:

Hundreds of cut-price and free books are up for grabs and Book Aid has paired up again with the event to help children overseas.

The annual celebration of authors, illustrators and reading is now in its 20th year and is marked by more than 100 countries around the world.

We'd love to see your pictures again.
