The owner of a mobility scooter that was found abandoned near the Twin Sails Bridge last week has been found.

Police received a call at 2pm on Thursday reporting that a mobility scooter had been found close to the water’s edge near the Twin Sails Bridge on the Hamworthy side.

A helicopter and teams of searchers on both land and water were involved in an operation on Thursday afternoon in a bid to find the owner.

Police Inspector Derek McKerl, of Dorset Police, said: “Following a number of enquiries, we have now located the owner of the mobility scooter and he is safe and well.

“It has been established that the scooter was stolen from the owner’s garden during the week before it was found abandoned.

“The theft of the scooter was not reported to police.

“Officers would like to thank the public for their help in sharing the appeal and providing information to help with the investigation.”
