A RUNNER is taking on 12 marathons in as many months in the hope of raising £6,000 for two good causes.

Phillipa Rolle, 44, who is part of Lytchett Manor Striders Running Club, will collectively cover over 300 miles over 12 months in her mission for Poole Hospital Charity and Lynch Syndrome UK.

She was inspired to take on the challenge after close friends and family had been affected by bowel cancer and Lynch syndrome, an inherited condition that gives people a higher risk of cancers of the digestive tract, gynaecological tract, and other organs.

To ensure that all money raised goes to where it counts, Phillipa's marathons are self-funded.

She said: "Running 12 marathons is a huge feat for me, even though I love running.

"I’m under no illusions that this goal is a huge undertaking for me, but minor compared to the suffering of people diagnosed with cancer or the gene for cancer.

"If I can raise awareness and money for two wonderful charities throughout 2017, then I would have achieved something more than my love for running by aiding in support for others I love dearly too.”
